Boulevard Brasserie

Nestled in the heart of Covent Garden at 40 Wellington St, Boulevard Brasserie delivers a slice of Parisian charm right in the center of London. The moment you step inside, there’s something unmistakably warm and familiar-the intimate brasserie lighting, crisp white tablecloths, and chatter that echoes with the relaxed energy of an afternoon in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

If you're wandering around looking for a spot that balances classic French flavors with the pulse of London life, this place is a solid choice. It’s especially popular for lunch and dinner, and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re dining solo or enjoying a catch-up with friends over Champagne, the experience feels both refined and unpretentious.

Let’s talk about the food. The menu reads like a greatest-hits list of French cuisine. You’ll find enduring favorites like Coq Au Vin, Steak Tartare, and a beautifully seasoned Rack of Lamb that arrives perfectly pink and tender. The Wild Mushroom Risotto-though not strictly French-is earthy, creamy, and unexpectedly addictive. And the Seafood Linguine is generously loaded with mussels, prawns, and squid, tossed in a garlicky white wine sauce that demands to be mopped up with crusty bread.

But it’s not all about mains. The French Onion Soup deserves a spotlight of its own. Rich, caramelized, and topped with a gloriously melted cheese crouton, it’s a comfort dish that’ll win you over from the first spoonful. And for a lighter bite, the Citrus Marinated Salmon offers a zingy contrast-fresh, vibrant, and plated with finesse.

Of course, no visit would be complete without Afternoon Tea. It's a favorite here, and for good reason. Expect freshly baked scones, delicate sandwiches, and petit cakes that feel too pretty to eat (but trust me, you will). If you’re into dessert, the Chocolate Tart has that rich ganache center and crisp shell combo that dessert dreams are made of. Or maybe the Chocolate Cake, which is decadent without being too heavy, is more your thing.

Pair your meal with something from the brasserie's extensive drinks list. Whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or you fancy a chilled glass of Champagne to elevate the occasion, Boulevard Brasserie’s great wine list offers something for every palate. They also serve beautifully crafted cocktails-the perfect pre-theatre indulgence or post-dinner treat. Not into alcohol? Their great tea selection and specialty coffee offerings ensure there’s something for every mood and moment.

What also makes Boulevard Brasserie stand out is the atmosphere-it’s buzzy without being chaotic, and the outdoor seating adds a continental flair for people-watching on Wellington Street. It’s also well-equipped for accessibility, with wheelchair-friendly entrances, toilets, and seating, making it a welcoming space for everyone.

The service is attentive without hovering. Staff here seem to know when to give you space and when to swoop in with the wine top-up or dessert menu. And if you’re catching a show in the West End, the location couldn’t be more convenient-it’s just a short stroll from the major theatres, making it an ideal pre-show dining destination.

From Breaded Chicken Milanese with Truffle Mayo and Fried Egg to traditional Moules Marinières, there’s an honesty to the flavors that keeps people coming back. Each dish feels well-thought-out and executed with care. Whether it’s your first time in London or you’re a local in the know, Boulevard Brasserie offers a consistent, delicious, and charming dining experience that blends classic French culinary tradition with the casual elegance of modern city life.

Loved how french this place is! Even the waiters seem to be all french! The menu has some great options! We ordered the chateaubriand to share - it was super tender and tasty but it also tasted a bit old and not very fresh! The dauphinoise potatoes were epic and a must have!

The service was exceptionel. It’s rare to find after 10 PM during the week a restaurant in this area of London where you are still being served. We came with a group of eight people and were not disappointed. The waitress Elisa Franco was a perfect host and everyone was happy with the food. You feel like in a real French Brasserie.

Great afternoon late lunch at the terrasse of the brasserie. We were served by a very nice little waitress. The meal was tasty and the desert a pure delicacy.

It's hard to find somewhere that caters for someone who is vegetarian and has Coeliac Disease but this place was fab. Staff were so helpful and took extra care with my daughters gluten free meal. Will definitely go again. The pics are of my food - not my daughters

Had an outstanding experience at Boulevard Brasserie. My partner and I had lunch together. We booked for around 12 and arrived at first at a very quiet restaurant which got very lively as lunchtime hit. The atmosphere was great. Our server (Tzouliano listed on Receipt) was great. Very quick and polite - thank you for your service. The food was fantastic. We opted for the lunch set menu. Having the Baked Brie Filo starter and Butternut risotto for main. My partner had the Sea bass for main, with a side of Fries. We shared a Creme Brulé for dessert. Would highly recommend all of them. Will be visiting again soon and recommending to all, thank you for a great experience.
